"Every man cheats! Every single one! Do not let anyone tell you otherwise. Because they always say, "I'll be back in 5" and before you even know it, you've made dinner, fed the dog, answered three emails, and developed a theory. It's obvious that they are in love, in love with the bathroom!"

…and that's what one of the ladies answered when we asked about the universal mystery of men and their love for spending time on the toilet.

So, why do men spend so long in the bathroom? Let's find out.

Spoiler: It's Not What You Think

Science has weighed in and the answer isn't digestion. Men spend an average of 14 minutes on the toilet daily versus 8 minutes for women. Nearly double. And no, men don't have more complex biology to blame. Ironically if there's any physiological excuse for any gender to spend more time on the loo, it's women because science tells us that they have more complex body than men. Studies show men actually suffer less from bowel issues than women.

So, if the stomach's not the culprit. Then what else? …drumroll…

Men are just retreating to the bathroom to enjoy some me-time. 63% of men admit to deliberately lingering when they're stressed at home or at work. Some men call it "the mancation". So, what exactly do they do in there?

Yeah, you guessed it right, they watch videos, catch up with the gram, read news, just the usual stuff. And yes, that's the place they feel the most comfortable to spend some alone time.

Bathroom has been and still is the most private room for the kings. So, how can anyone be mad about a king sitting on the throne?

Bathrooms were once built for utility. Get in, get out. Plus, just like everything with time and advancing technology this space became more n more comfortable and started feeling like a retreat; good lighting, clean lines, a seat that doesn't make your back ache, made people stop rushing.
