Temp Shield is Somany's climate-responsive cool tile technology, engineered to reduce heat absorption and improve thermal comfort across exposed surfaces. Built on a high-whiteness reflective surface, the technology maximises solar reflectance while enhancing thermal emittance, allowing surfaces to reflect a significant portion of solar radiation and efficiently release absorbed heat. This dual mechanism results in lower surface temperatures and improved indoor comfort. Performance testing demonstrates strong thermal efficiency, with solar reflectance values around 76%, thermal emittance up to 92%, and Solar Reflectance Index (SRI) reaching up to 95, placing Temp Shield among high-performance cool surface materials. These properties enable surface temperature reductions of up to 15–20°C and indoor temperature reductions of 3–5°C, significantly reducing heat gain and lowering dependency on air conditioning. Designed for rooftops, terraces, balconies, façades, and sun-exposed applications, Temp Shield contributes to energy efficiency, reduced cooling loads, and improved comfort. The high whiteness index ensures long-term reflectivity and sustained performance over time, while the tiles also offer durability, weather resistance, and ease of maintenance. By helping mitigate the Urban Heat Island Effect and supporting sustainable building practices, Temp Shield delivers a future-ready surface solution that combines performance, comfort, and environmental responsibility across residential, commercial, and infrastructure projects.
